Woman gets time in 2005 stabbing

A Goldsboro woman could spend the next 14 years in prison for murdering her boyfriend last year, a judge decided Monday.
Teresa Edwina Bizzell, 39, originally faced one count of first-degree murder in connection with the Feb. 24, 2005, stabbing death of Larnell Thompson. After reaching a plea agreement, Ms. Bizzell pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in exchange for a lighter sentence.
Superior Court Judge Jerry Tillett sentenced her to 141 to 179 months in prison.
Ms. Bizzell, who lived in Tanglewood Mobile Home Park on Central Heights Road with her boyfriend, allegedly killed Thompson in their mobile home.
Goldsboro police went to the home to check on Thompson at the mobile home after no one had seen him in a couple of days, according to earlier reports. Officers found the doors locked. After making a forced entry, police found Thompson's body on the floor next to the bed.
After probing the matter, police identified Ms. Bizzell as a suspect.
Ms. Bizzell fled the state to avoid the charges. She was arrested in South Carolina and brought back to Wayne County to answer the murder charge.
