Shoeboxes of gifts for needy children overseas are now being accepted at Adamsville Baptist Church on North Berkeley Boulevard.
The drive is part of the annual Operation Christmas Child campaign. Organizers say they hope to have 6,000 boxes ready to ship by Monday.
Shoeboxes should be designed for a girl or boy of a specific age, 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Toys, hard candy and personal hygiene items are most welcome.
Shoeboxes will be collected today from 3-7 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon and from 3-6 p.m., Friday from 3-6 p.m., Saturday from 2-5 p.m. and Sunday from 3-8 p.m.
The campaign is directed by Samaritan's Purse International, which is led by the Rev. Franklin Graham.
