Woman dies after 117 crash

MOUNT OLIVE -- A Faison woman died from severe injuries she received in a two-vehicle collision on U.S. 117 Bypass and Lee's Country Club Road Thursday.
Mary McCullen Wilson's vehicle was struck by a truck driven by Richard Martin Sweerus of Chadbourn. The accident occurred about 2:15 p.m., Highway Patrol officials in Raleigh said.
Ms. Wilson was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment. She was later transported to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where she later died.
Hospital officials originally provided incorrect information about Ms. Wilson's medical condition.
State Trooper Matt Holloman is investigating the accident. Damages to both vehicles totaled $10,000.
