Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two unknown suspects walked into the Teasers nightclub about 1:10 a.m. Friday. One of the suspects pointed a gun at a cashier and demanded money. While they emptied the till, one of the suspects told her to disrobe and shot a hole in the ceiling. The gun was described as a small camouflaged-patterned handgun. The two suspects, including one wearing a black hooded coat and a black mask, ran from the business with $512 in cash.
*Three suspects walked into Kangaroo, 1601 E. Ash Street, wearing all black, with scarves over their faces about 12:03 a.m. Friday. One of the suspects yelled get down and fired several shots in the ceiling. Another suspect snatched the cash register off the counter and ran from the store. The cash register contained $200.
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Detectives Sgt. Shawn Harris and Rick Winders apprehended a man who allegedly stole jewelry and other items, valued at $9,000, from a home in the Lane Tree subdivision in August. Jason Scott Taylor, 27, Kinsey Mill Road, Mount Olive, faces felony larceny and possession of stolen property. Bond was set at $4,000. Most of the property has been recovered and returned. Mount Olive police assisted with the investigation.
*The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is looking for a stolen pig cooker off N.C. 581 North. The grill is a new black, diamond plated metal grill with a red tail lights. Anyone with information is asked to Detective Richard Winders or Sgt. Carl Lancaster at 731-1480. Residents also can give anonymous tips by calling Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
Fires
Goldsboro Fire Department reported these incidents:
*Brakes on an empty fuel tanker overheated and caused a tire to ignite about 6 a.m. Thursday. The driver released the tanker from the tractor about 50 yards to keep vapors and gasoline remnants from igniting. Units of Goldsboro Fire Station No. 2 extinguished the fire, which was located in the westbound lane of U.S. 70 near Spence Avenue. Ryder Truck Rental owned the truck. E.J. Pope was transporting the fuel tanker. Damage was set at $1,000.
*A fan motor in the bathroom at Piggly Wiggly shorted out and ignited. Firefighters responded to the supermarket at 100 Lionel St., about 6:20 a.m. Fire crews cut the power and put the fire out. The fire was contained to the fan motor in the bathroom. The fire caused minimal damage, Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Langston said.
