City Council will ask for input on 10-year-plan

A public hearing and a rezoning request are among the items on a short docket for Goldsboro City Council's first meeting of the month Monday.
The meeting, slated for a 7 p.m. start, will be held in the second-floor conference room at City Hall on Center Street.
After a vote for approval of minutes from their May 9 budget work session, council members will conduct a public hearing to gain input from residents on the City of Goldsboro 10-Year Plan.
Council members will then vote on their consent agenda, which includes the state controlled substance tax remittance and federal property forfeiture programs, both submitted by Goldsboro police Chief Tim Bell, before moving onto items requiring individual action.
A rezoning request from Johnson Construction Co. is one of those items, and involves property on the east side of Country Day Road between Patetown Road and Wheeler Drive. The company wants to have the site changed from R-16 to R-12 residential so it can begin work on 49 town home units and nine single-family units.
Council members also are expected to take action on a preliminary subdivision plat from Judith Scott, a site and landscape plan revision for property located on the south side of New Hope Road, and site and landscape revisions for Royall Square.
City Manager Joe Huffman is then scheduled to give a report, followed by comments by City Attorney Tim Finan before council members open the floor to the public for comment and concerns.
