Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Arson is suspected in a fire that broke out at rental home at 665 Loop Road about 3:45 p.m. Wednesday. No one was home at the time of the fire, which started in the rear bedroom. Dorthy Basden owns the home. Mike Bishop and Dennis Hutcheson rented the home. Units from the Grantham Volunteer Fire Department and Wayne County Emergency Services responded to the alarm. No injuries were reported. Damage was set at $7,000.
*Someone set fire to 16,000 pounds of cropped cotton in a fieldl along the 200 block of James Hinson Road between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday. Units of Grantham and Thoroughfare volunteer fire departments responded to put out the fire. Damage was set at $7,000.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*The Shoe Show on North Berkeley Boulevard reported the theft of $709 in cash and $143 worth of shoes.
