Wayne Memorial Hospital nurses among the "Great 100"

Two Wayne Memorial Hospital nurses are among the state's "Great 100" registered nurses chosen this year for demonstrating excellence in patient care.
Shana Bostic, an RN in PACU, and Donna Edmundson, corporate health coordinator for the hospital, were recognized recently during ceremonies in Greensboro.
Shirley Harkey, director of nursing at the hospital, said it was the 18th year for the program. In that time, Wayne Memorial has had a tradition of having recipients make the list.
Ms. Bostic of Beulaville has 16 years experience as a nurse. She has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society for nurses since 1994. She has also worked with the Girl Scouts program and been a member of the Duplin County Relay for Life Team for the past five years.
Mrs. Edmundson of Goldsboro has more than 27 years experience in the nursing profession.
She recently received the 2006 N.C. Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service and serves on the Wayne County Board of Health and the American Red Cross of Wayne County.
In addition to the honorees receiving a pin, a plaque and a letter from the governor, the program raises funds for nursing scholarships. In the past 12 years, $140,000 has been awarded to nursing students.
