Last neighborhood meeting planned for Tuesday

Residents will get one more chance to voice their concerns to city officials Tuesday as Goldsboro City Council members host their final neighborhood meeting of the year.
Assistant City Manager Tasha Logan said the gathering, scheduled for 6 p.m. at Herman Park, is meant for residents who live in the areas near Beech and Holly streets.
Goldsboro police officials have already begun to address problems in the area, she added -- loud noise keeping residents up late at night and people roaming the streets at all hours.
Ms. Logan said she expects those concerns to be among those voiced by the residents in attendance.
The spring neighborhood meeting schedule kicked off on the 600 block of Holly Street at Franklin Bakery's loading dock in April. Litter, dilapidated houses and crime were among the concerns voiced by residents there.
Then, at the May meeting, the prevalence of gunshots, prostitutes, drug dealers, homeless and violent youth were condemned by neighbors from the blocks surrounding Leslie Street at the W.A. Foster Center.
Rain resulted in the cancellation of June's meeting of residents from Teakwood and Mimosa Park and the schedule did not pick back up until late August at Fire Station No. 4.
The August meeting saw a turnout of more than 100 people as Mayor Al King's neighbors near Harris Street and Bunche Drive complained about delinquent children roaming the streets at night -- cursing, making threats and breaking into cars.
Ms. Logan said Tuesday's meeting will likely resemble the others held this year.
Food and refreshments will be provided by Pizza Inn and Coca-Cola and information tables will be set up by various departments including the Goldsboro police and Fire squads.
