Revolutionary War battles subject of lecture

A historian will describe the crucial Revolutionary War campaign in North Carolin at an event sponsored by the Old Dobbs Society on Saturday at the Wayne County Museum.
Tom Magnuson of the North Carolina Humanities Forum will speak at 10:30 a.m. on the maneuvering of patriot and British forces that led to the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, a turning point late in the war. The presentation will concentrate on the terrain and the skirmishes between British and American forces in February and March of 1781.
Magnuson holds a master's degree in history from San Jose State University and is a visiting scholar at the University of North Carolina Institute for Southern Studies. The museum is located at 116 N. William St. The event is free and open to the public.
