Wayne County Sheriff officials are investigating two armed robberies that occurred over the weekend.

In one case, two armed men walked into Chen's Kitchen on Five Points Road Saturday afternoon. The sheriff's report said one of the armed men stood in front of the counter, while the second robber went behind the counter, reached into the cash register and took $350.

Owner Qin Lin Chen said the assailants left in a black car heading south on U.S. 117.

Chen said one of the suspects appeared to be 13 years old, and the other was 17. Both teens were wearing black T-shirts, and one was wearing a bandana on his head.

Later Saturday night, two suspects robbed a couple behind the Village Square Washerette on U.S. 117 South. One robber had a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun and demanded money. When the couple said they had no money, the gunman shot a hole in the laundromat. The report said the robbers ran toward the stoplight.

The victims, who live on Old Grantham Road, were unhurt.

The couple described the robbers as two black males. One stood between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 9 inches and was slim. The shooter was between the ages of 17 and 20, wearing a black pull-over coat and black pants. The second robber wore a red bandana over his face and a red pull-over coat with black pants.
