The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is continuing an investigation into reports of a young man with a weapon near several school bus stops in the county this morning.

Initial reports said that a youth with a gun was harassing students at bus stops in the Potts Road area of Dudley, which serve Brogden schools.

Sheriff Carey Winders said reports came in that a school bus driver had seen an older gentleman walking around from bus stop to bus stop with a gun. When deputies arrived, though, they found a youth, who proceeded to run from the scene.

Deputies chased after the male, who went into a house, Winders said.

"They could not find a gun on him," he said.

Winders said the youth was believed to be homeschooled and said he had been "kicked out of the house last night. ... They were unable to handle him."

In the meantime, the youth's brother reportedly called the Sheriff's Office and said he was missing a gun, prompting the officers to continue a search for the firearm.

Officers were also investigating reports that one of the subjects was on probation, Winders said.
