Here is the background information provided from Wayne County Public Schools about schools in the Eastern Wayne district of the county, presented to those attending Monday night's public forum with the master facilities plan committee to discuss construction needs. It was distributed to the advisory councils from each of the schools in advance and then handed out at the public meeting.

SCHOOL AMOUNT PROPOSED:

Eastern Wayne Middle - $6 million

Greenwood Middle - $1 million

INDIVIDUAL SCHOOLS

BACKGROUND AND PLANS

EASTERN WAYNE ELEMENTARY -- Constructed in 1992, renovations and additions: 0.

*Current capacity: 736

*Current enrollment: 765

*Mobile units: 0

*Facility plans: New metal roof, cafeteria/gym divider, doors/hardware, upgrade student drop off area, new phone system, upgrade existing chiller.

EASTERN WAYNE MIDDLE -- Constructed in 1947, renovations and additions in 1951, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1962, 1975, 1976.

*Current capacity: 500

*Current enrollment: 630

*Mobile units: 8

*Facility plans: Demolition of old building, construction two-story unit for classrooms and administration offices.

EASTERN WAYNE HIGH -- Constructed in 1969, renovations and additions in 1944, 1948, 1958, 1963 (used to be part of the old Eastern Wayne Elementary campus), 1976, 1992.

*Current capacity: 1,300

*Current enrollment: 1,294

*Mobile units: 0

*Facility plans: Demolish east campus and rebuild closer to main building (14 classrooms), new field house, deferred maintenance.

GREENWOOD MIDDLE -- Constructed in 1962, renovations and additions in 1964, 1966, 1972.

*Current capacity: 660

*Current enrollment: 567

*Mobile units: 3

*Facility plans: Demolition, add four classrooms and new faculty restrooms, air condition kitchen and gym, staff toilets, deferred maintenance.

MEADOW LANE ELEMENTARY -- Constructed in 1958, renovations and additions in 1960, 1963.

*Current capacity: 693

*Current enrollment: 766

*Mobile units: 3

*Facility plans: Air condition gym and kitchen, add six classrooms; long-range (11-20 years) plan to replace school.

TOMMY'S ROAD ELEMENTARY -- Constructed in 2001 with 1996 state bond money and no renovations or additions since.

*Current capacity: 567

*Current enrollment: 599

*Mobile units: 3

*Facility plans: Four new classrooms, 6,965 square feet, replace carpet.
