Crime of the Week
An armed robbery has been selected by Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers as this week's "Crime of the Week."
Robin Lofton and Sylvia Mickens reported they were robbed at gunpoint in the KFC parking lot on Ash Street. Lofton, 18, of Pittman Street, reported the gunman put a gun behind the back of her head and placed a cloth over her mouth and demanded money. The incident occurred at 10:43 p.m. Monday.
Mickens, 42, of East Walnut Street, reported the gunman chased her around the parking lot. The robber's attempt was futile. He left empty-handed. The suspect is described as a slender, black male in his 20s. He stands about 5-feet-8 to 6 feet tall. He was last seen wearing black pants and shirt and a dark-colored hat.
Anyone with information on this armed robbery or any other crimes in Wayne County is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to arrests in felony cases.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Someone raided a job site on N.C. Hwy. 581 North and stole a black Army trailer, welder, an air compressor and other tools, all valued at $8,850. The property belonged to J&N Land and Timber of Four Oaks.
*Someone broke into Seay Financial on North John Street, and stole a Hewlett-Packard laptop and a Hewlett-Packard desktop computer. Total estimated damage is $4,000.
*John Brantley Futrell reported 7:39 p.m. Tuesday that someone cut the padlock and chain off of the entrance gate at Tri-County Kartway on N.C. Hwy. 581 North. Nothing appeared to be missing from the racetrack, according to the report.
Investigations
Darian Leroy Grantham told Goldsboro police that at 9:37 p.m. Tuesday someone robbed him at gunpoint on East Pine Street. The gunman stole his wallet that contained $750, a Sam's card, a Visa card, his driver's license and cell phone so that he could not call the police.
