DUDLEY -- A 35-year-old Dudley woman faces a slew of embezzlement charges for allegedly stealing nearly $17,000 in lottery tickets from her boss' till.
Tammy Sue Flores-Osorio, of 192 McCullen Lane, a former employee of Best Gas and Grill in Dudley, was charged with 16 felony counts of embezzlement and was taken to the Wayne County Jail, said Patty McQuillan, spokeswoman for the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety.
"She was placed under a $320,000 secured bond," Ms. McQuillan said.
State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents Kelton Brown and Jason Locklear nabbed Mrs. Flores-Osario Tuesday after investigating the matter.
The arrest was made in response to a complaint filed by the owner of Best Gas and Grill, which is located on U.S. 117 in Dudley. The owner reported losses of approximately $17,000 in lottery sales. A representative of Best Gas and Grill declined to comment about the case and deferred all comment to state investigators.
Mrs. Flores-Osario had her first day in court Wednesday. However, she remained in custody at the Wayne County Jail Thursday pending receipt of her bond.
"The investigation is continuing and additional charges are expected," Ms. McQuillan said.
