Armed robbery

As Omar Otero was driving along the 400 block of East Spruce Street about 9 p.m. Saturday, a man pulled a handgun on him and stole his Ford Explorer, according to a Goldsboro Police report. Otero said the truck was valued at $7,000. He described the robber as black but said the man held the gun to his head and told him not to look so that he could not identify him. The thief also took his wallet, driver's license, Social Security card and ATM card.

Assault

Justin Lane, 19, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of communicating threats and Josh Lane was charged with assault, two counts of communicating threats and injury to personal property after an altercation Monday at a store in the Mar Mac community. Cornelius Smith said he exchanged angry words and punches. He said Lane returned with his brother and several others and damaged his scooter. One of the men allegedly threatened Smith's mother with a knife before deputies arrived at the scene.

Justin Lane was placed in the Wayne County Jail under $1,500 bond. Josh Lane was was placed in Wayne County Jail under $1,200 bond.

Stolen pool cues

Someone stole three pool cues valued at $700 and a compact disc player valued at $50 from Seth Rogers' truck parked on the 100 block of Lauals Drive in Pikeville, Wayne deputies said. A day earlier, Jacob Hamilton reported that someone stole a $300 amplifier, speakers valued at $400 from his truck parked on the same block missing Hamilton later found the items in a nearby field.

School break-in

Someone broke into Carver Elementary School on Old Seven Springs Road over the weekend, but didn't steal anything from inside. Deborah Ogburn reported to Wayne County Sheriff's deputies that between 6:30 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Monday someone attempted to break into a classroom on campus by trying to pry open the door. The person was unsuccessful getting into the classroom and caused $100 in damages to the dead bolt and the door frame. The person is also believed to have broken a light fixture near the classroom.

Stolen car

Employees at Toyota of Goldsboro on North Oak Forest Road said someone stole a 2003 tan Toyota Camry valued at about $15,500 from the business.
