Dog foils break-in
A Goldsboro man told police Thursday that someone tried to break into his residence but was scared off by his dog.
John Marti of Pineview Avenue said an unknown person kicked his front door in and attempted to enter his home when his dog began barking and scared the would-be robber away.
There was no description of the burglar.
Theft
Bonita Thorne, of Franklin Street, told Goldsboro police officers that someone pried her back door open Thursday to gain entry to her residence.
When they got inside, they stole more than $3,000 in goods.
Among the items reported stolen were a computer, digital camera, printer, video game console, video games, clothing and cash.
Assault
A Goldsboro woman told police Thursday that she was assaulted in the middle of Daisy Avenue. Shanell Brown, of Benton Street, said she was in her stopped car when a group of five black women in their 20s assaulted her. One of the women bit her, she said.
Investigations
The following incidents are being investigated by Wayne County law enforcement:
*Jessica Dauphinaix, of Edgerton Street, told police Thursday that someone broke into her residence. Mrs. Dauphinaix told officers that someone cut her window screen to gain entry to her home and stole cash from inside.
* Peggy Martin, of Oleander Avenue, told police Thursday that her $4,000 Ford Taurus was stolen from her residence.
*A car rented from Toyota of Goldsboro was not returned and is now considered stolen, officials said. Employees at the dealership said an $18,000 rental was not returned and when they called the renter, the person said the car had been taken by a friend.
*Officials at Wayne Foot, on Lee Street, told police Thursday that someone stole $650 in cash from the business.
*Steven Lassiter, of Maple Street, told police someone broke into his residence Thursday and got away with more than $300 in goods. Among the items stolen from his home were a television and DVD player, he said. The robber got in through the back door, he said, which sustained $200 in damage.
