North Drive Elementary School hopes its new Parent Resource Center will support parents and allow them to get more involved in their child's education.
The school opened the resource center on Wednesday, just in time for the start of the new school year.
The Parent Resource Center allows North Drive parents to work with their child on homework or other academic needs. It also allows parents to use academic supplements including computers, books, and educational games like flash cards and puzzles. The materials can be checked out for use home.
The school system understands the important role parents play in the academic success of students, said Carol Artis, principal at North Drive.
"This Parent Resource Center will be open to parents during and after school. Eunice Evans, our 'Home School Coordinator' spent all summer setting up the Parent Resource Center in one of our former 5th grade classrooms," she said. "We hope its learning-conducive environment will be welcoming to parents and offer them the necessary resources to help their child succeed academically."
The resource center is open to parents or guardians whose children attend North Drive Elementary. Parents can contact the school at 731-5950 for more information.
