The website for Mount Olive College has been redesigned to show ways the institution is transforming to meet the needs of its students.
Located at www.moc.edu, changes were engineered by the school's webmaster Khiao Phonchanh following a yearlong review by the college's website committee.
According to Dr. Barbara Kornegay, vice-president for enrollment, website recruitment is critical for the college's many programs.
"Over half of our applications come in on-line, so ease of navigation and attractiveness are critical for new and continuing students," she said.
The redesign was created to be more eye-catching. It incorporates a new site map, a virtual tour of the Mount Olive campus and new streaming video on the home page.
Most of the College's 17,000 weekly hits are either academic or athletic in nature, officials said. A large number of the hits are also logged on the employment page which lists job openings, as well as on the special events page which highlights current happenings at the College's six locations.
"We have had a very positive response from the redesign," Phonchahn said. "We will continually look for ways to improve the site and make it more user friendly."
