The Carolinas Cotton Growers Cooperative, the second oldest marketing cooperative in the United States, will hold its 84th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Nash Community College Business & Industry Center at 422 North Old Carriage Road in Rocky Mount.

The open session will begin at 11 a.m. An overview of cooperative operations will be presented followed by the address by keynote speaker, John Maguire, the senior vice president of the National Cotton Council.

Maguire has the responsibility of coordinating the Washington activities of the National Cotton Council, including congressional relations and working with administration officials, with the overall mission of helping each of the U.S. cotton industry's seven segments compete effectively in the global market. He is actively involved in policy development and implementation activities.

Maguire will be discussing the national farm policy outlook and current events that could shape the next Farm Bill.

A buffet lunch will be provided immediately following the meeting. Attendees are asked to RSVP by calling 1-800-662-7082 no later than August 31.
