Despite the threat of severe thunderstorms in the forecast for this afternoon, Goldsboro officials are moving forward with plans to hold a neighborhood meeting at Fire Station No. 4 for residents of the Harris Street and Bunche Drive areas.

Assistant City Manager Tasha Logan said a final decision on tonight's gathering will be made no later than 4 p.m. and that residents planning on attending the meeting can call 580-4362 for the city's verdict.

Mayor Al King said the presence of gang graffiti might be among the concerns voiced by residents of his neighborhood. Aside from public comment, the event will be "another opportunity to open lines of communication between neighbors and the city," he said.

Should the event take place, it will follow a format similar to previously held meetings, officials said. Pizza Inn and Coca-Cola will provide food and refreshments and staff from city departments will man information tables.
