Investigations
The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:
*Investigators are waiting for a man to turn himself in for questioning about a shooting that occurred Saturday morning.
Two men who were driving the victim to the hospital flagged down an ambulance around 11 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of U.S. 117 South and U.S. 13. The name of the victim was not released by press time.
Sheriff Carey Winders said the man was shot in the neck. He was in good condition and talking coherently Saturday night.
The sheriff said the man was apparently shot during an argument.
*Two businesses reported buying advertising signs they did not receive. Leo Kenon with Kenon Performance Center on U.S. 117 North told investigators he paid $200 to a man who called himself Scott Bailey, who said he represented a Granite Falls company. He said he would erect a sign for Kenon at Southern Family Markets. Billie Sue Mathias, owner of Pawsitively Pets on U.S. 117 South, reported the same thing happened to her.
*A counterfeit $10 bill showed up at the Friendly Mart on U.S. 13 south Friday morning when a woman told the clerk she had given her the bill as change for a purchase. The clerk exchanged the counterfeit bill for a real one and called 911. The fake was confiscated.
*Daryl Linwood Locklear of Emmaus Church Road said somebody he does not know has been using his information to open accounts with various creditors. No further information was available.
*Someone used Wanda Sue Austin's Bank of America debit card to obtain goods and services totaling $2,269.48. Ms. Austin, who lives in Dudley, said she was reviewing her account on-line when she discovered three unauthorized debits, all of them made in different towns in New York.
The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating these reports:
*Thieves broke into the home of Dorothy Kelly on Slaughter Street and took $800 worth of DVDs after doing $40 worth of damage to a window.
*John Liaudaitis of Rudolph Street told police Friday night somebody kicked in his back door and took his handgun. The gun was described as a P-247 Taurus 45-caliber automatic valued at $475. Damage was estimated at $145.
*Someone pried open a door to a trailer at Meadow Lane School and took $10 worth of rubber balls. Damage to the door was $100. .
Robbery foiled
An intended robbery victim fought back Friday afternoon in the 900 block of North Madison Avenue and drove off three thieves.
Edward Adam Bradshaw told Goldsboro police he was walking south on Madison when three black men approached him and demanded money. He refused and after a short struggle, they ran off in the direction of Royall Avenue.
