The late Clifton Britton, a popular drama coach at Goldsboro High School in the 1940s, '50s and early '60s, will be the subject of a tribute later this year at Wayne Community College and officials are asking former students to get involved.

"A Goldmasquers Reunion" is the theme of the weekend event being planned for Dec. 2 and 3, said Jack Kannan, director of the college's Foundation.

The Goldmasquers was the high school's award-winning drama group, led by Britton, a teacher at the school from 1942-1962.

Britton died a year after leaving the school.

The weekend event will be a high school reunion of sorts, Kannan said. He has been working arduosly on the project, contacting former students from the 20-year span Britton was at the school.

This week, there will be a meeting to discuss some of the upcoming plans.

"This is an information session about what we're planning to do," Kannan said. "We want them to bring anything -pictures, old programs, memorabilia of the Goldmasquers and Mr. B."

Anyone interested is invited to attend the meeting, which will be held on Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in room 101 of the Walnut Building at Wayne Community.
