Body found in burning pickup

A vehicle fire call turned into a potential suspicious death investigation in Kenly Thursday night.
Kenly Fire Department firefighters discovered the dead body of a man in a pickup truck after they responded to a vehicle fire call and extinguished the blaze, officials at the Johnston County Sheriff's Office said this morning.
The fire department received a call concerning a burning vehicle at 1121 Hickory Crossroads Road at about 9:40 p.m.
After firefighters put out the blaze, they noticed a body inside the unidentified pick-up truck, Johnston County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Tammy Amaon said.
Sheriff's deputies and detectives were also called to the scene. The body was taken to the Johnston County medical examiner's office.
The man found in the truck has not been identified, and a cause of death has not been determined.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident as a suspicious death.
