Investigations

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:

*Copper pipe valued at $1,000 was reported stolen Wednesday afternoon from under a house on Devereaux Street. The owner, Elizabeth Barnes of Pikeville, said she saw water running from under the house and called a plumbe, who discovered the missing pipe.

*Thieves broke into Darlene Gregory's vehicle while it was parked at Bizzell Court and stole $1,140 worth of sound equipment and 30 music CDs from it. She said they caused $125 worth of damage when they broke out the front passenger window to gain entry.

*Everette Lee McLean told investigators that two men kicked in the side door to his home on South Slocumb Street around 2:20 a.m. today and made him lie down on the floor while they stole his shotgun and cash, valued at a total of $1,800. He said they also shot two holes into his ceiling. He described the men as black, both in their 30s. He said they left in a gray 2000s-model Pontiac Grand Am.

Accidents

*Goldsboro police charged Jean Lucille Saulman of U.S. 117 North with failure to reduce speed after her car ran off the right side of street and struck a utility pole Wednesday on George Street between Holly and Vine. Damage to her vehicle was $4,000. Damage to the Progress Energy pole was $900. The report said she was unhurt.

*The state Highway Patrol charged Brenda Goodman Dail of Nahunta Road, Pikeville, with improper passing Tuesday after her car collided with another vehicle on A Street between Stoney Hill Road and Nahunta Road. Total damages were estimated at $6,000.

*Crystal Anne Sullivan of Greenville was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital Sunday night after an accident on Stoney Creek Church Road between N.C. 111 and Daw Pate Road. The state trooper charged John Jerome Payne Jr. of Stoney Manor Drive with driving left of center. Damage to his car was estimated at $1,500. Damage to Ms. Sullivan's car was set at $4,500.
