Handgun stolen
Shelly Flanagan of Best Street said someone entered her car and stole a semiautomatic handgun from beneath the driver's seat. It was valued at $200.
Vandalism
The Coca-Cola Bottling Co. reported one of their vending machines damaged to Goldsboro police. The machine located outside the Paradise Flea Market on William Street, appeared to have been pried into, officials from the company said. Damages were estimated at $400.
Air conditioner
stolen
Walter Cogdell of Slocumb Street told Goldsboro police officers that someone stole a window air-conditioning unit from his home.
Investigations
Wayne County law enforcement officials are investigating these reports:
*John Paul Best, of Newsome Road reported common law robbery to police this weekend. Best alleges that as he was walking down Devereaux Street, an unknown black man mugged him, getting away with close to $400 in cash.
*Sheila Austin, of Kennon Court, told police that someone caused $1,000 in damage to her vehicle this weekend. Mrs. Austin said she left her car on Alabama Street overnight after it broke down there. When she came back the next day, the windows had been broken and all four tires had been cut.
Accidents
*State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a one-car wreck this weekend on U.S. 117 east in Mount Olive. According to their report, Takeaya Neal was driving her 2004 Dodge east when she ran off the road and struck a ditch before coming to rest in a field. Ms. Neal told responders she lost control while trying to adjust her mirror. The wreck caused an estimated $2,500 in damages.
*State Highway Patrol troopers responded to a one-car wreck on Emmaus Church Road this weekend. According to their report, David Herrera was traveling east when he turned left and struck a driveway barrier. The wreck caused an estimated $1,500 in damages.
