Monday, for the first time, Goldsboro City Council will hold its meeting in the new City Hall building. Their docket, which will be dominated by zoning and planning issues, also includes a presentation from the United Way.

The first two items requiring individual action involve rezoning property. One, requested by V.M. McHarness, is located on the west side of Jefferson Street, between Ash and Peachtree streets. The owner is requesting a change from residential to neighborhood business.

The second property, located on the west side of New Hope Road between Cuyler Best Road and Harding Drive, is requesting the addition of 120 residential units.

The council will also review preliminary plats from Stoney Creek Medical Office Subdivision and Shoppes at Goldsboro and the site and landscape plan for The Shops at Soloman Weil.

The final items on the agenda involve site plan revisions for W.P. Rose Supply Company and Wayne Memorial Hospital.

At the end of the meeting, after City Manager Joe Huffman and City Attorney Tim Finan report to council, the public will be given the opportunity to speak to council members about issues of concern.

The meeting will begin promptly at 7 p.m. in the large conference room, located on the second floor of the new City Hall. Attendees are asked to turn off or mute all cell phones and pagers before entering the meeting.
