Multiple Assault
Two men were injured with the same baseball bat during a fight on the 400 block of North Virginia Street Saturday morning, Goldsboro police said. According to a police report, Dexter Bunn, 54, stepped outside his home with a metal bat in his hands and hit Swanel Moses, 52, of North George Street, in the head. Moses took the bat from Bunn, officers said, and struck him several times in the head. Both men were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and were placed in Wayne County Jail under $5,000 bond.
Swimmer robbed
A teenager was robbed while swimming at the Family Y, police said. Bryce Scott, 13, was at a swim meet when someone stole more than $600 worth of his belongings, according to an officer's report. Bryce told investigators he believed someone stole his belongings while he was talking to his coach. The thief took a black Speedo bag containing clothing, a white iPod Nano in a leather case and an Erickson cell phone.
Credit card stolen
An unknown suspect stole and used Sharon George's, of Emmaus Church Road in Dudley, credit card, charging $420 worth of items, she told Wayne County Sheriff's Office detectives. Mrs. George, of Emmaus Church Road, said that after finding her card mising, she discovered money missing from her account. The card was used between 1 p.m. Friday and 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The suspect used the card twice at Best Gas and Grill, once at Summit Racing and tried to use it several times online.
Vehicle break-in
Walter and Linda Thompson told Goldsboro Police officers that an someone broke into their Toyota Camry and stole a driver's license, military identification card, $4 in cash and a brown and orange purse valued at $200. According to the report, the items were taken between noon Thursday and about 8 a.m. Friday. Mrs. Thompson told officers on the scene that she thought she had heard voices outside her home on the 3400 block of Central Heights Road. When Mrs. Thompson looked outside, she said she did not see anyone, but went outside and noticed one of the car's doors was ajar and the items gone.
Home robbed
Clara Herrington reported to Goldsboro Police officers that she had been watching her friend's apartment while the friend was out of town and found it broken in to at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Ms. Herrington said she had only been away from the house for a couple of hours when the break-in occurred at the 900 block of Oak Street. An unknown suspect stole three white floor fans valued at $30, a $150 22-inch television set and about $50 worth of food from the freezer. Officers on the scene reported there was no sign of forced entry.
Stolen vehicles
The following stolen vehicle reports were made to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office:
*Some time between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, an unknown suspect stole a 2002 silver Dodge Neon from a residence on the 200 block of Forest Knolls Road. The owner of the vehicle, Mia Jones, told deputies she used the vehicle to take a friend to work on Friday morning. After she returned, Ms. Jones said she took a nap. When she woke up that afternoon, the car was missing. The car is valued at $5,280.
* A 1998 gold Mercury Tracer was stolen from a residence on Poanal Drive some time between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday. Walter Parker, 45, told deputies that he believed a woman named Sherry stole his car because she was the only person that knew he keeps his residence door unlocked. Parker also said he had given Sherry multiple rides in the vehicle. Parker described Sherry as a white woman, 5-feet, 9-inches, 125 pounds, with brown, wavy hair and hazel eyes. Sherry also has a tattoo of a feather on her hip. Deputies determined the value of the Mercury to be about $2,500.
* A scooter and helmet, valued at about $2,300, were stolen from the shoulder of U.S. 70 East at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday. Donnie Lee Logan reported that his son had been riding the scooter down U.S. 70 when it ran out of gas. Logan's son left the scooter and helmet on the side of the road to get fuel from a gas station. When his son returned, Logan reported that the scooter and helmet had been stolen.
