City Council has zoning demolition on its plate

Goldsboro City Council members will have plenty on their docket at their final meeting of the month Monday at 7 p.m.
Four public hearings will be held, including two dealing with zoning issues.
The first, involves a request by V.M. McHarness to rezone property on the west side of Jefferson Street between Ash and Peachtree streets from residential to neighborhood business.
The second, requested by BRC Goldsboro, is a request to rezone property on the west side of New Hope Road between Cuyler Best Road and Harding Drive. If approved by council, the residential units on the property will increase from 216 to 336.
Items on the council's consent agenda include setting public hearings for a pair of noncontiguous annexation requests. One, involves property owned by E.J. Pope on the northwest corner of U.S. 70 and N.C. 581. The other, a New Life Property, is located on the east side of Patetown Road between New Hope and Tommy's roads.
Council's items requiring individual action will include a budget amendment for Phase II of the City Hall project and a request by Chief Building Inspector Ed Cianfarra to condemn four dilapidated dwellings -- 106 E. Dewey St., 601 W. Chestnut St., 521 Olivia Lane and 919 Bethune St.
Monday's meeting will be the last one held in the original City Hall until the completion of renovations to its interior. Starting next month, all meetings will be held in the second floor conference room in the new City Hall addition.
As is their policy, council members will open the floor to the public for comment toward the end of the evening. Concerned residents are encouraged to come speak.
