Workers load tobacco at a local farm owned by Shawn Mitchell on Emmaus Church Road in the Arrington Community. Mitchell, who owns 70 acres of tobacco, said he is cropping his tobacco by hand as a way to cut some of his costs in light of the increasing gas prices. To stay cool, crews at his farm start work at 5:30 a.m. and stop around 10 a.m. to beat the heat.
