Assault charge
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with a felony assault in connection with Sunday's shooting of another man.
Lomack Darrick Pridgen of Tinderwood Drive was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.

The victim, Roderick M. Buckrham, 40, of Becton Drive, was listed today in good condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Sheriff's Capt. George Raecher said Monday that the shooting followed an ongoing feud between the men.
Sheriff's deputies were dispatched at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday to a shot-fired call on Becton Drive in northern Wayne County. They found Buckrham had been shot in the leg with a large-caliber firearm. After an investigation, Pridgen was found in his home and arrested.
The lead investigator, Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster, who was assisted by Deputy Larry Mitchell and D-shift patrol Deputy Billy Wells, said a .45 caliber firearm was recovered. He said the investigation is continuing.
Charges pending
Charges are pending today in a two-vehicle crash that claimed a woman passenger's life Saturday, the Highway Patrol said.
Both drivers and two passengers were injured in the wreck at 5:15 a.m. at Emmaus Church and Sleepy Creek roads near Dudley.
The victim, Marisela Roblero-Ortiz, 22, of Will Anderson Road, Dudley, was not wearing a seat belt and was seated on the passenger side in the second row of seats of a minivan that was driven by Jose L. Levano, 20, of Holloman Road, Dudley.
Levano and another passenger, Obledo Ortiz, 24, of Will Anderson Road, Dudley, were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, where their conditions were not immediately available.
Another passenger. Ariana Roblero-Vasquez, 19, of Will Anderson Road, and the other driver, Tonya Michelle McCloud, 35, of Timothy Street, Dudley, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
Trooper J.M. Holloman said Levano was traveling east on Sleepy Creek Road and did not yield the right of way at a stop sign to Ms. McCloud's southbound sport utility vehicle. After the collision, the minivan ran off the right side and overturned, and Ms. McCloud's SUV spun around and stopped in the road.
Both vehicles were demolished. The 1996 Plymouth minivan, registered to Darinel Ortiz Bartolon of Darlene Drive, Dudley, was valued at $6,000. Ms. McCloud's 1997 Jeep was valued at $6,000.
The fatality was the 15th this year on Wayne County roads, including one in Goldsboro.
Driver injured
A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $17,500 Monday in three traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $6,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 11:04 a.m. Monday at Wayne Memorial Drive and Hospital Road, Goldsboro police said. Jacqueline H. Joyner, 68, of Cassedale Place was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Ms. Joyner, who was going north, was charged with a stoplight violation. The other driver, Patricia C. Hill, 50, of West Bradford Way, Pikeville, was going east.
*Damages were set at $6,000 in a two-car crash at 3:17 p.m. Monday at East Ash Street and North Audubon Avenue, police said. A westbound driver, Virginia L. Best, 71, of South Slocumb Street, was charged with a stoplight violation. The other motorist, Tovarras Jerrell Rhodes, 28, of East Elm Street, was making a right turn, police said.
*Both cars were demolished in a wreck at 10:50 a.m. Monday at West Ash and North Virginia streets, police said. A northbound driver, Virginia K. Phipps, 71, of Clingman Street, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. The other driver, Gloria C. Thornton, 56, of Neal Drive, was heading east. The cars were valued at $5,500.
Break-ins
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A citizens band radio and an aluminum catwalk were stolen between Sunday and Monday after a truck window was smashed at the Down East Travel Center on U.S. 117 South, deputies said. The owner and driver, Willie Ralph McKeel of Dudley, estimated the value of the stolen property at $925 and damage at $300.
*A case of 12 gauge shotgun shells were stolen between Saturday and Monday after a shed door was damaged at the Polly Watson Volunteer Fire Department at 4825 N.C. 581 North, deputies said. The shells were valued at $75. Damage was set at $200.
*A video-game system was stolen between Friday and Monday after a door was pried open at a home in the 100 block of Jenny Lane near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, Deion Bell, put a $200 value on the system.
*Two gold chains were stolen between Sunday and Monday after a window was damaged at a home in the 200 block of Woods Drive near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, Gregory Roberts, estimated the chains' value at $350 and damage at $150.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Five vehicles were damaged between Saturday and Monday at Adamsville Auto Sales at 109 S. Berkeley Blvd., Goldsboro police said. Thieves took papers from a glove box of a pickup truck and then set fire to the paper, burning the floor, and they damaged a radio face plate on another pickup. Two cars were scratched on the hoods, and another was scratched on the side. Damages were estimated at more than $1,050.
*A radio was stolen between Sunday and Monday after a car window and door were damaged in the 500 block of South Oleander Avenue, police said. The owner and resident, P.L. Martin, put a $200 value on the radio and set damage at $350.
*A compact disc player was stolen between Sunday and Monday after a truck window was smashed in the 2300 block of Norwood Avenue, police said. The player was valued at $450. Damage was put at $300 to the car, owned by Jerry Butler of Portsmouth, Va.
*Stereo equipment and compact discs were stolen between Sunday and Monday after a car was damaged in the 100 block of West Lockhaven Drive, police said. The owner and resident, Gary Alan Brown, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,065 and damage at $20.
*A red 2005 Honda Elite motor scooter was stolen between Sunday and Monday from the 1000 block of South Best Street, police said. The owner and resident, James Henry Wilson, said it was worth $2,400.
Fraud charge
A 28-year-old woman from Duplin County was arrested Monday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony embezzlement. Kawanda Edmundson Best of Beautancus Road, Mount Olive, was accused of embezzling money from the Friendly Check store while she was employed there, Investigator Dwayne Dean said. She was released from custody on a $3,000 unsecured bond.
