Store is robbed;
man wounded
An Hispanic convenience store, two employees and another man were robbed in two separate holdups and a man was wounded, according to law-enforcement reports.
The store and the employees were robbed Sunday night by seven Hispanic males, a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report said.
About $500 in cash, $2,500 in money wire transfers, phone cards and food were stolen from the El Molina store at 1462 Arrington Bridge Road, the report said. The phone cards and food were valued at $618. About $100, a wallet and personal papers were stolen from an employee, Carlos Edward Bacarili, the report said. Both employees also said their phones, valued at $15 each, were stolen.
The other employee, Iliana Bacarili, told deputies that the suspects entered the store at about 8:45 p.m., ordered food and played pool as she prepared the food. Then one man displayed a handgun and demanded money, the report said.
Carlos Bacarili said he had gone to the store to check on his wife and the suspects were leaving as he was entering, He said one man stuck a gun in his chest, taped his hands and stole his wallet. The suspects then fled.
The robbers could be described only as Hispanic males. Two wore Italy soccer shirts, and one wore a Mexico soccer shirt.
In the other holdup, a Goldsboro man reported that he was robbed at 3:50 a.m. today in the 900 block of West Grantham Street.
David Henry Howell, 53, told police that a black man approached him as he left a store, put a gun to his head and demanded money. The robber grabbed about $160 and fled toward the Highway Patrol station. The robber was described as being about 30, 6-feet and 230 pounds.
Howell said he had seen the suspect get out of a car that left during the holdup. The driver was described as a black man wearing a red shirt.
A 40-year-old man was wounded Sunday at his home in the 100 block of Becton Circle after an argument with another man, according to a report filed with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
Roderick Marchell Buckrham was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for a leg wound and listed today in good condition, a spokeswoman said. The suspect was not described.
Drug charges
Three Goldsboro residents have been arrested by Goldsboro police and charged with felony drug offenses.
*O'Brien Devon Kornegay, 24, of Devereaux Street was charged Sunday with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, driving while his license was revoked, breaking and-or entering and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond. He was arrested during a traffic stop in the 500 block of East Mulberry Street.
*Kim Lorenzo Barrett, 38, of Central Drive was charged with possession of cocaine and resisting arrest. He was jailed in lieu of a $2,500 secured bond.
*Carnell Vaughn, 50, of McDaniels Street was charged with possession of cocaine. His secured bond was set at $2,500.
6 hurt in wrecks
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $46,900 in six recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A Goldsboro driver was charged with failure to reduce speed after the car that he was driving ran off the right side of Bunche Drive at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, striking two mail boxes and a brick wall, Goldsboro police said. Arika Chemell Jones, 21, of South Slocumb Street declined medical treatment. Damages were set at $7,000.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $5,100 in a two-vehicle collision at 12:58 p.m. Saturday at North Claiborne and Peachtree streets, police said. Larry Leroy McCant, 55, of Hideaway Circle, Dudley, and Christine Elizabeth Stanford, 20, of Princess Drive were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. McCant, who was going east, was charged with a stop-sign violation. Ms. Stanford was headed north.
*Ä motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a pickup truck at 1:01 p.m. Friday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Langston Drive, police said. Finley Blake Johnson, who was leaving a restaurant parking lot, was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with a safe-movement violation. The other motorist, Benny Franklin Wiggs Jr., 33, of West Hill Street, was going north. Damages were set at $3,300.
*Damages were estimated at $5,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 12:29 p.m. Friday on the service road to U.S. 70 near North William Street, police said. The driver leaving a business, Sion Abernathy Moss Jr., 66, of Selma, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The other driver, Robert Blake Plummer, 17, of Claridge Nursery Road, was going east.
*Damages were estimated at $6,500 in a two-truck crash at 8:20 a.m. Friday on East Ash Street near North William Street, police said. A driver leaving a parking lot, Cary A. Faulcon, 49, of Potts Road, Dudley, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The other motorist, Ricky Dale Dixon, 40, of North Chase Drive, Fremont, was going east.
*Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $19,500 in a two-vehicle wreck at 9:25 a.m. Thursday at U.S. 13 and Tommy's Road, the Highway Patrol said. A northbound driver, Mildred Alice DePiero, 70, of New Hope Village Drive, was listed today in good condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Her passenger, Gail Elizabeth Stevens, 54, of South Harding Drive, and an eastbound motorist, Fredrick Earl Parker, 62, of Woodside Circle, were released after emergency-room treatment. No charges were filed. The intersection is governed by a stoplight.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A television, a satellite receiver and 18 movie videos were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a door was damaged at a home in the 200 block of Athens Drive near Dudley, deputies said. The resident, S.N. Hargrove, estimated the value of the stolen property at $650 and damages at $500.
*An unlocked white 1985 Chevrolet C-10 pickup truck was stolen between Friday and Saturday from the 100 block of Carolina Street near Dudley, deputies said. The owner and resident, Robin V. Darden, put a $3,000 value on it.
*A tan, two-door 1994 Ford Thunderbird was stolen Sunday from the 1000 block of Moye Road near Fremont, deputies said. The owner, Joshua Brantley of Pikeville, said the car, valued at $2,400, was unlocked with the key left inside.
*A golf cart and garden tools were stolen between July 10 and Friday from the 1000 block of Herring Road, deputies said. The resident, D.M. Large, said the property was worth $2,140.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A red, two-door 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse, with the key left inside, was stolen before dawn today from the 1100 block of Stephens Street, police said. The owner and resident, Julie Bryant, put a $3,000 value on the car.
*A white, four-door 1990 Chevrolet Lumina was stolen between Friday and Sunday from the 600 block of Third Street, police said. The driver, Rodrigo Mendez of Fremont, said he had left the key inside. The car, owned by Heriberto A. Flores of Fremont, was valued at $1,500.
*A 42-inch Philips television was stolen Saturday from a home in the 100 block of North Kornegay Street, police said. The resident, Donnetta Bethea, said the TV was worth $2,000.
Felony charges
A Goldsboro teenager turned himself in Sunday night to Goldsboro police on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
Darryl Allen, 18, of Kennon Court was accused of the crimes on May 2. He was released from custody on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Missing
A 16-year-old girl was reported missing Saturday to Goldsboro police. Amy Ponce Urquia of 222 Fox Drive, Dudley, was described as Hispanic, 5-feet-5 and 125 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.
When she was seen last at 10:15 p.m. Friday, she was wearing a red shirt, black pants, black shoes and a black hat.
