Woman shot
A 21-year-old Goldsboro woman was wounded Saturday night in what Goldsboro police called an accidental shooting.
Kenyatta Noel Hines was shot in the back at a next-door neighbor's home in the 100 block of Swan Street, police said. She was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, a spokeswoman said.
Ms. Hines had told police that she had been feuding with several women earlier Saturday. The report said she said the suspects had jumped her and had come to her home with baseball bats.
A 19-year-old woman was detained and questioned by police. No charges have been filed, but the case remains under investigation.
Building fire
A small vacant building at 303 S. George St. was destroyed Sunday in a fire that was determined to be suspicious, Goldsboro fire and police officials said. The building was engulfed in flames at 11:13 a.m. when firefighters arrived within minutes.
The building, owned by William Eason who had operated Eason Dealer Service Inc., was valued at about $25,000.
Body found
The body of a 68-year-old Walnut Creek man was found Sunday in woods near Garris Chapel Road, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report. The victim was identified as Raul Martines DeAraujo of 117 Fairway Drive. Sheriff's officers and a doctor attributed the cause of death to a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
2 men robbed
Two men who did not disclose their home addresses were robbed Saturday of small amounts of money in the 100 block of West Walnut Street, Goldsboro police reported.
William D. Justice, 57, told officers that he was punched and kicked in the head by a black man who then stole $3 in coins. Billy Ray Starling, 57, who tried to assist Justice, gave the assailant a $20 bill in an attempt to get him to leave Justice alone. The suspect then ran away.
Justice was treated by rescue personnel for minor injuries.
Motorcyclist hurt
A motorcyclist was injured in a wreck at 9:51 p.m. Saturday on Central Heights Road near New Hope Road, Goldsboro police said. Reyes Salim Patino, 21, of New Hope Road, LaGrange, was listed today in good condition at Wayne Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed. Damage was set at $1,000.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A television, a speaker box with four speakers, an amplifier and a hand-held computer were stolen between Friday and Saturday from a truck in the 100 block of Radford Drive, deputies said. The thief had damaged a window, molding and a stereo bracket in order to steal the property, the report said. The owner and resident, Joseph Ernest Ham, estimated the value of the stolen property at $2,114 and damages at $125.
*A liberty half-dollar, two 1966 silver quarters, four silver dimes and a $20 silver certificate were stolen between Tuesday and Friday from a home in the 100 block of Stoney Manor Drive, deputies said. The resident, A.R. Fazakerly, put a $1,320 value on the stolen cash.
*A radio and an amplifier were stolen after a truck window was broken in the 100 block of Mary Lane. Richard Collins estimated the stolen property's value at $600 and damage at $250.
*A video-game console was stolen Friday after a door was damaged at a home in the 100 block of Rackley Drive. Timothy Walker put a $200 value on the console and set damage at $50.
*A blue 2006 PGA T-Rex scooter was stolen Sunday from the 200 block of North Hereford Drive. Vontreal Brown valued it at $2,900.
*A box with about $100 was stolen from the Green Acres Alcoholics Anonymous building at Arrington Bridge Road and U.S. 117 South. Damage was put at $30.
Thefts
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $320 was stolen between Sunday and dawn today from Pupetta's restaurant at 503 N. William St. A thief had removed the covers to two heat vents on the roof to get inside. Damages had not been determined.
*A pressure washer and two cases of beer were stolen between from a home in the 1600 block of East Mulberry Street. S.P. Ross estimated the stolen property's value at $1,825 and damage at $200.
*A compact disc player was stolen between after a car's dashboard was damaged, police said. Nicole Eisenbarth of Fallin Boulevard, put a $1,000 value on the player and set damage at $100.
