The Partnership for Children of Wayne County is currently accepting More at Four applications for the school year beginning in August. Classes are located in public schools, Head Start and child care facilities.

More at Four is a free state-funded pre-kindergarten initiative designed to prepare eligible at-risk 4-year-old children for success in school. There are openings for the 2006-07 school year at the following locations: Fremont STARS Elementary School, Happy Days Day Care & Pre-school, Kids & Company, School Street Elementary School, Small World Child Care, Wee are the World, and Wonderland Christian Child Care.

Children in More at Four learn about letters, colors, shapes and numbers; learn to develop positive relationships with peers and teachers; listen to stories and learn about books; explore math, science, art and music; expand language skills; develop a positive sense of self and enthusiasm for learning; and explore and play outside daily.

To be eligible, children must be 4 years of age on or before Oct. 16, 2006. Families must meet income eligibility requirements based on family size. Applications are available at the Partnership for Children Office, 800 N. William St. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

They may also downloaded from the Partnership's Web site at www.waynesmartstart.org.
