Man charged
in 3 break-ins
Goldsboro police on Thursday arrested a 34-year-old Goldsboro man and charged him in connection with three reent break-ins in the city.
Mark Anthony Walker of Duffy Drive was charged with three counts each of breaking and entering and larceny and one count of armed robbery and second-degree kidnapping.
He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $110,000 secured bond.
Walker is accused of breaking into lawyer John Agner's office on South William Street on June 19 and stealing $750 and checks, Investigator Dwayne Bevell said.
Walker was charged by Bevell with breaking into Francisco Diaz's mobile home in the 3100 block of Central Heights Road on June 22 and stealing a a television, a video cassette recorder, a camera, shoes and a telephone.
A resident who shares a home in the 400 block of North Kornegay Street with his elderly mother came home Saturday and confronted two people inside, Bevell said. The intruders brandished a knife, forced the resident, Preston O'Neal, to a back room where they stole his wallet and tied his feet with telephone cord, the report said.
Walker was arrested after information from witnesses, Bevell said today.
Walker had been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with a woman and charged with breaking into a home on Pikeville-Princeton Road and stealing property that was recovered.
Two charged
with vandalism
Two men from Johnston County were arrested before dawn today by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with damaging numerous mailboxes on Little Dove Road near Pikeville.
Daniel Earl Pearce, 20, of Hickory Crossroads Road, Kenly, was charged with eight counts of injury to personal property. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $1,000 secured bond.
Jerry Devon Smith, 18, of South Pine Street, Princeton, was charged with five counts of injury to personal property. He was jailed in lieu of a $500 secured bond.
Two residents in the 300 block of Little Dove Road told Deputy C.T. Arnold that they were awakened by outside noises and found an overturned trash can and a damaged mailbox. One resident followed a Lincoln Town Car to the 200 block and confronted the suspects, who denied the crimes, the report said.
Arnold was notified of the incidents, talked to the first resident and later found the suspects in the car. Arnold said the two men confessed to the crimes, and they were arrested and charged. Estimated damages totaled $200.
Man stabbed
A Goldsboro man was stabbed Wednesday, and a woman was arrested Thursday by Goldsboro police and charged with the offense.
The victim, George Roger Hargrove, 72, of East New Hope Road, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released, a spokesman said.
Hargrove's roommate, Selma Jean Flythe Simmons, 51, of East New Hope Road, was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury and felony second-degree kidnapping. She was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
Another woman, Sara H. Morgan of Goldsboro, told police that she had gone to pick up Hargrove at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to take him to work and Ms. Simmons told her that Hargrove had left with his son.
The report said a wounded Hargrove then came outside and Ms. Morgan helped him in the car, took him to her home on Force Road and called for rescue. Ms. Morgan told officers that Hargrove said he was stabbed while he was in bed. Police said the assault remains under investigation.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A combination radio, DVD player and television, an amplifier, two speakers and a speaker box were stolen Thursday after a car window was smashed in the 1200 block of Maple Street, Goldsboro police said. The driver, Josh Kearney of Goldsboro, estimated the value of the stolen property at $1,075 and damage at $25 to Paula Kearney's car.
*A silver, four-door 1999 Dodge Intrepid was stolen Thursday from American Used Car Sales at 212 E. Mulberry St., police said. A man asked to test-drive the car and took the key, and when an employee went inside to get a dealer tag and paperwork, the suspect drove away, the report said. The car was valued at $6,250.
*A green 1997 Kawasaki four-wheeler was stolen from a yard in the 300 block of Rose Road near Pikeville, sheriff's deputies said. The owner and resident, Andy Brian Musselman, put a $2,500 value on it.
Wreck injures two
Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:29 p.m. Thursday at North Audubon Avenue and East Beech Street, Goldsboro police said. An eastbound driver, Clayton Eugene Raynor Jr., 20, and his passenger, Amos Harris Jr., 29, both of Elton Drive, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A northbound motorist, Joy Lynn Dudley, 21, of Oakland Church Road, Princeton, was charged with a yield violation at a stop sign. Damages were set at $3,700.
Drug charges
A 46-year-old Goldsboro man was arrested Thursday by Goldsboro police on Devereaux Street and charged with possession of cocaine. Allen Holmes of East Holly Street was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
Missing
A 19-year-old woman was reported missing Thursday by relatives to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Shasta Karla Greenway of 1236 Eagles Nest Road, Dudley, was described as white, 5-feet-3 and 120 pounds with long dark brown hair and hazel eyes. When she was seen last at 2 a.m. Thursday, she was wearing blue jeans, light blue and white striped shirt and pink flip-flops. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
DWIs
These people have been charged by Wayne County law-enforcement officers with driving while impaired:
*Toni Lynne Floyd, 43, East Beech Street, .11 percent blood-alcohol content (BAC), $500 bond.
*Lacy Martez Holmes, 24, Selma, .13 percent BAC, $500 bond; also charged with an equipment violation.
