Woman shot

A 58-year-old Goldsboro woman was wounded Sunday in a predawn shooting in the Pinewood Square parking lot in the 1000 block of North Spence Avenue, Goldsboro police reported.

Earmalene B. Larry, a Wal-Mart employee, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, a spokesman said.

Ms. Larry told police that she heard people arguing at about 3:30 a.m. when she was walking to her car. She said she was calling 911 when she was shot in the left thigh. The assailants were not described.

Man robbed

A Goldsboro resident returning home Saturday was robbed by two men.

Preston O'Neal, who lives on Kornegay Street, said he saw two men inside as he returned. One displayed a knife while the other tied him up with a telephone cord, according to a Goldsboro police report. O'Neal told officers that the suspects stole his wallet that contained $140 and personal papers. One suspect was described as a tall black man with a light complexion and the other was a short black man with a dark complexion with a T-shirt over his face.

Investigations

Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:

*About $500 in change was stolen between Friday and Saturday after a window was smashed and a grill damaged at a home in the 200 block of Everittsville Road. Carlton Jackson Jr., estimated damages at $400.

*About $135 was stolen between Saturday and Sunday after a window was broken at the Buck Swamp Grill at 467 Buck Swamp Road. No damage estimate was listed.

*About $700 in quarters, five riding helmets and an ice scoop were stolen between Wednesday and Friday after a window and a game were damaged at Busco Beach. The other stolen property was valued at $580. Damage was set at $90.

Missing

A 16-year-old Goldsboro youth was reported missing Sunday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Carlos Emanuel King of 716 Dove Place was described as black, 5-feet-8 and 120 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a dark complexion. When he was seen last at 4 p.m. Saturday, he was wearing an orange shirt, blue jeans and tan shoes. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6572.

Accidents

*A driver said he fell asleep and was injured at 1:18 a.m. Sunday when his sport utility vehicle ran off the right side of West Ash Street and overturned, a half-mile west of the new U.S. 117 bridge, Goldsboro police said. Howard Lee Smith, 54, of Twin Creeks Drive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital . No charges were filed. The SUV, valued at $25,000, was destroyed.

*A driver was injured and her car was destroyed in a wreck at 8 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 70 near Lake Wackena Road, the Highway Patrol said. Ashley Ann Robinson, 16, of Nicole Drive was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The car was valued at $8,000.

*A driver was injured and the pickup truck that she was driving was demolished in a wreck at 4:45 p.m. Saturday on Capps Bridge Road near Gurley Dairy Road, the Highway Patrol said. Jessie R. Holloman, 16, of Clifton Ridge Drive, Pikeville, was released after emergency-room treatment. No charges were filed. The truck was valued at $5,000.

*A bicyclist was injured in a collision with a car at 4:44 p.m. Friday at West Pine and South Virginia streets, police said. Jamie Ja'z Nickson, 13, of Virginia Street was released after emergency-room treatment. Virginia S. Taylor, 63, of Stephens Street, was not charged, but her car sustained about $250 in damages.

*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at 10:27 a.m. Friday on Wayne Memorial Drive near 11th Street, police said. Gail H. Kirby, 62, of Antioch Road, Pikeville, was released after emergency-room treatment. Ms. Kirby, who was turning into a gas station, was charged with a safe-movement violation.

*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $7,500 in a two-vehicle collision at 10:25 a.m. Friday at Rosewood and Perkins Mill Road roads, the Highway Patrol said. A westbound driver, Cindy W. Mitchell, 44, and her passenger, Joe Mitchell, 16, both of Stevens Mill Road, were released after emergency-room treatment. The oncoming eastbound driver, Kenthony Scott Price, 17, of Laura Lane, was charged with a yield violation.
