Goldsboro police are looking for the armed robber who stole an undetermined amount of money from the Berkeley Boulevard Kmart store Thursday evening.

Maj. Mike Hopper said a black man wearing a black shirt, black pants, a camouflage jacket and a camouflage bandana entered the store just before 9:15, holding a silver pistol.

He demanded money from a cashier, who complied -- emptying the contents of a register into a black bag the robber was carrying.

The man, believed to be in his late teens or early 20s, was last seen running northwest behind the Kmart and Furniture Fair.

Hopper said police responded to a call that came in around 9:15. By the time they arrived, the culprit had gone.

The robbery was the second on Berkeley Boulevard this month. On June 5, Edwin Emory Scott, a 25-year-old Raleigh resident, allegedly robbed the BB&T branch on that road.

Hopper said witnesses from last night's event are being interviewed by investigators. Aside from their statements, it is possible -- but not likely -- that video surveillance from the store will help police identify and arrest the assailant.

Anyone with information can call the Goldsboro Police Department or the Crime Stoppers hotline at 735-2255.
