A Mount Olive man was in good condition this morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital recuperating from shotgun wounds in both legs.

Lyndon Gerald Bowden, 39, of Bowden Road near Mount Olive was found lying face down in a ditch around 11 p.m. at a home at Allegheny Place in Dudley.

Bowden told Wayne County Sheriff's Office investigators that he was visiting a friend at the Allegheny Place address and went inside. He said someone shot him from behind.

He was listed in good condition today at WayneMemorial Hospital.

Investigations

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is investigating these reports:

*Someoney broke intio a 1998 Ford contour owned by Nelson Perez while it was parked outside his home on Van Dyke Drive, Dudley. He said they took the radio and radar detector, both valued at $290. Next door, another vehicle break-in occurred. Levi Gonzalez said somebody stole the radio out of his 1994 Mazda truck. It was valued at $600.

*Thieves broke into a house owned by John Ashley Lynch on Lynch Road, LaGrange. Lynch, who lives nearby, said a staple gun, channel locks, side cutters, a four-foot level, a reciprocating saw, a box of staples, a pack of saw blades and a throw rug, all valued at $359, were stolen. No sign of forced entry was found.

*Somebody forged two checks worth $911 on Gerald Carson Edwards' bank account. Edwards said he discovered the forgery Wednesday morning.

Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:

*Police are looking for three men involved in a forgery of $2,317.98 used to buy vinyl siding at Goldsboro Builders Supply. The company contacted Kinston police and found out the check had been stolen. The man who presented the check was described as black, 30-ish, about five feet 10 inches tall, of medium build and with short hair. The men left in a white Ford Econoline van.

*A break-in at Eastern Vocational Rehab at 902 Corporate Drive netted thieves $3,420 worth of items including tools, a camcorder, a refrigerator, grinder, walkie ttalkie and VCR.

*Someone broke into the home of Stefanie Bell on Cashwell Drive and took 60 DVD movies and a Playstation 2, valued at $2,649.

Traffic reports

The State Highway Patrol reported 10 traffic accidents Wednesday and said some were related to the heavy rain that fell during midday and eh afternoon.

* Joseph Arrington Daniels of South Madison Avenue was charged with failure to reduce speed after an accident on Cuyler Best Road. His 2003 Saturn sustained $4,000 damage. The other car, a 2001 Nissan driven by Yvonne Decarlo Jackson of Greencedar Court, sustained $3,500 damage. no one was injured.

*Marjie Shirley of Middleton Road was charged with failure to reduce speed Wednesday night after an accident on George Street between West Grantham and Holly streets. Her 2001 Mercedez sustained $3,800 damage, and the other car, a 1999 Ford, sustained $1,000 damage. The Ford was driven by Lando Carissian Phillips of Hollowell Street. No one was reported injured.

*Goldsboro police charged Ralph Earl Barnes of Ward Drive, Dudley with improper moving violation Wednesday morning on Martin Luther King Boulevard near U.S. 117 South. His 1999 Freightliner rolled backward a little and was not damaged, but $3,500 damage resulted to the 2001 Chevrolet driven by Johnny Woodard Jr. of Southern Place Drive, Dudley. No injuries were reported.
