Trafficking charge
A 23-year-old Goldsboro man has been arrested by the Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with two drug trafficking offenses.
Rinardo Quantrell Howell of East Mulberry Street was arrested Monday during a traffic stop on Ash Street. Cocaine with an estimated street value of $10,000 also was seized.
Howell was charged with trafficking in cocaine by possession and by transporting. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $75,000 secured bond.
Man wounded
A 43-year-old Goldsboro man was wounded Tuesday night by a gunshot from outside of a home in the 800 block of East Elm Street, a Goldsboro police report said.
Lyneil Antonio Washington refused treatment by emergency personnel at the scene, the report said. He said shotgun pellets came through a bedroom door.
The assailant was described only as a black man who wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and a blue and white bandanna.
3 hurt in wrecks
Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $18,200 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A Goldsboro driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday on North Berkeley Boulevard, south of New Hope Road, Goldsboro police said. Jeffery Allen Holland Jr., 20, of Juniper Street was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. Holland, who was leaving a parking lot, was charged with a safe-movement violation. The other driver, Sean Taylor Worrell, 18, of East Raintree Lane, was going south. Damages were set at $3,200.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $5,000 in a two-car crash at 2:18 p.m. Sunday at N.C. 55, N.C. 403 and Pineview Cemetery Road, the Highway Patrol said. Ariosto Velasquez De la Cruz, 38, of Bell Street, Warsaw, was released after emergency-room treatment. De la Cruz, who was going north, was charged with a yield violation and no operator's license. The car had collided with a westbound auto, driven by Richard George Gorske, 58, of Fayetteville, the report said.
*A driver was injured and her sport utility vehicle was demolished in a wreck at 11:43 p.m. June 3 on Beston Road near Hood Swamp Road, the Highway Patrol said. Debbie Rouse, 43, of L.D. Hardy Road, LaGrange, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Pitt County Memorial Hospital, where she was treated and released, a spokeswoman said. She was charged with suspicion of driving while impaired and driving left of center. Her SUV was valued at $10,000. It had run off the left side and overturned four times, the report said.
Rape charge
A Goldsboro teenager was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony second-degree rape.
Jimmy Ray McArthur, 17, of Ashley Avenue was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for Friday.
Fraud charge
A 37-year-old Goldsboro woman was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police and charged with felony embezzlement.
Stephanie Bonita McLeod of U.S. 117 South was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
Drug charge
A Goldsboro man was arrested Tuesday by Goldsboro police in the 700 block of East Ash Street and charged with a felony drug offense.
Carlos Leon Atkinson, 45, of Oleander Avenue was charged with possession of cocaine, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while his license was revoked. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $2,000 secured bond.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*About $50 in change and two welding leads were stolen between Monday and Tuesday after a door was pried open at Griffin Steel and Supply Co. at 2417 N. William St., police said. The leads were valued at $300. Damage was set at $70.
*A black 2005 PGO scooter was stolen between Monday and Tuesday from a parking lot in the 2000 block of Wayne Memorial Drive, police said. The owner, James Wiggins of LaGrange, said the scooter was worth $2,195.
