Man is charged
with trafficking
A 32-year-old man from Greene County has been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with third-level trafficking in cocaine by possession of and transporting more than 400 grams.
Roberto Carpio of Walstonburg was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 secured bond.
When Carpio was arrested Tuesday near Washington Street in Pikeville, officers seized cocaine with an estimated street value of $218,000.
The Drug Squad arrested and charged another man with cocaine possession and also destroyed a marijuana operation.
Abdul M. Shabazz, who did not disclose a home address, was arrested in the 1300 block of North George Street and charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Shabazz, 56, was jailed in lieu of a $1,500 secured bond.
After an anonymous tip to Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers, officers found six marijuana plants behind a business on U.S. 117 South. The plants were seized and would have had an estimated street value of $14,400 at maturity. No arrests have been made.
Man stabbed
A man was stabbed, a motel guest was robbed and gunshots damaged a mobile home, according to reports filed by Goldsboro police.
Robert Young, 30, of Goldsboro was walking before dawn today in the 900 block of Olivia Lane where a black man told him that he was going to kill his friend. The report said that when Young asked about the comment, the suspect pulled out a gun. Young knocked the gun from the suspect's hand, but the man then pulled out a knife and stabbed Young in the arm. Young was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. The assailant was described as 5-feet-7 and 170 pounds, wearing a gold shirt and brown shoes.
The motel guest, Manuel Aguilar, 58, of Monroe, heard a knock on his door at the Quality Inn at 708 Corporate Drive, opened it and let three people inside. The intruders, the report said, pretended to have a weapon and took Aguilar's wallet and vehicle keys. The white 2006 Ford pickup truck, owned by Dawn Development Co. of Monroe and valued at $45,000, was recovered along with the wallet. But about $121 and a gas card were missing. The suspects were described as two black men and a white woman.
Sengsanga Sixayphol, 63, of South Slocumb Street told police that he heard gunshots from a field Tuesday night. When he got up Wednesday, he discovered that gunshots had damaged the paneling, inside walls and tile board. Damages were set at $322.
4 hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $50,000 in seven recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*Damages were estimated at $7,000 in a two-car collision at 3:24 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope Road and the entrance to the Food Lion parking lot, Goldsboro police said. Darick Izel Green, 32, of Florida Avenue, LaGrange, was charged with a safe-movement violation. Pamela Michelle Young, 34, of Devonshire Drive, was charged with improper use of the center lane.
*A passenger was injured in a one-car wreck at 1:45 p.m. Sunday on Old Grantham Road near Overman Road, the Highway Patrol said. Belinda Gaye Davis, 40, of Winston Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Justin David Davis, 20, of Winston Drive, was charged with a lane-control violation. Damage was put at $2,500.
*Damages were estimated at $9,500 in a three-vehicle crash at 8:54 a.m. Saturday at U.S. 70 and Beston Road, the Highway Patrol said. Aaron Matthews Sladick, 16, of Wilkins Farm Road, Mount Olive, was charged with a yield violation.
*Damages were estimated at $11,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 8:12 a.m. Saturday at N.C. 581 and N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said. Tricia B. Keyser, 33, of C.R. Lewis Dairy Road, was charged with a yield violation.
*Damages were set at $7,000 in a two-vehicle, rear-end crash at 7:19 a.m. Friday at N.C. 55 and Indian Springs Road near Mount Olive, the Highway Patrol said. Roy Franklin Coates, 39, of Indian Springs Road, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed.
*Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at 6:45 p.m. May 24 on U.S. 70 near Beston Road. Ryshonda Levette Williams, 25, and her passengers, Latasha Sutton, 31, and Khanye Sutton, 2, all of Easy Street, LaGrange, were released after emergency-room treatment. No charges were filed. Damages were fixed at $3,000.
*A sport utility vehicle was demolished in a wreck at 7:46 a.m. May 23 on Tommy's Road near N.C. 111, the Highway Patrol said.Rebecca G. Forrest, 17, of Isaac Drive, was charged with a lane-control violation . The SUV was valued at $10,000.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Thieves stole $10,200, a DVD player, a sword, a box of knives and a jewelry box after damaging a window at a home on Nahunta Road, deputies said. The resident, M.H. Weaver, estimated the value of the stolen property at $6,570, in addition to the cash.
*About $2,850 worth of firearms and $6 were stolen Tuesday from a home on Moss Hill Drive, deputies said. No sign of forced entry was listed at the S.A. Lee home. Some property has been recovered.
*A 1997 Ford Taurus and a weed trimmer were stolen from Camp Jubilee Road, deputies said. The owner, William F. Townsend, said his property was worth $850.
*Four tires on a sport utility vehicle were slashed, a windshield smashed and the vehicle was covered in paint between Tuesday and Wednesday in the 200 block of Brewington Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Timothy Lamont Faison, estimated the damages at $8,800.
*A blue, four-door 1999 Ford Escort was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from the 100 block of Darlene Drive, deputies said. The owner and resident, Darinel Ortiz Bartolon, said the car was worth $4,000.
Break-ins
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A big-screen television and 10 complete uniforms with jackets, pants and shirts were stolen from a home in the 200 block of Hooks River Road,. William Bryant valued the stolen property at $3,200. Damage was set at $50.
*A microphone and speaker board and an amplifier were stolen from the Card L Lounge at 614 N. John St. The stolen property was valued at $1,500. Damage was put at $55.
Juvenile charged
A 12-year-old boy has been charged by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office with felony burning with the intent to damage property in connection with a field fire off Brandywine Drive. He was released to his parents' custody. An investigation by Detective Sgt. Shawn Harris, with the help of Patetown Volunteer Fire Department and neighborhood residents, led to the boy's arrest.
Missing
A 15-year-old Goldsboro boy was reported missing Wednesday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Anston Robert Hobbs of Lot 239, 3201 Central Heights Road, was described as black, 5-feet-5 and 120 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When he was seen last at 6 p.m. Wednesday, he was wearing black and gray pants and a shirt. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call police at 705-6527.
