Humane Society plans pet photo contest

The focus is on photography as the Wayne County Humane Society prepares for its annual Pet Photo Contest and the 2007 Pet Photo calendar.
The contest will be held on Saturday, with photos displayed at Berkeley Mall from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. First place awards and honorable mentions will be awarded in three categories -- Cat, Dog and Other -- and people will have a chance to vote for their favorite picture.
The deadline for entries is Wednesday. Entry fee is $10 per picture.
Pictures should include the pet's name, owner's name, address and phone number and should be mailed with the fee to the Wayne County Humane Society, P.O. Box 821, Goldsboro, N.C. 27533.
Photos are also being accepted for the 2007 Pet Photo calendar. Registration fee is $25, and four pets will be featured for each month. Deadline for photos is Wednesday, May 24.
Advertising space can be purchased in the calendar. Each space, which is about 1.5 inches by 3.5 inches, costs $100.
