A bone marrow drive test site will be held at the Carver Alumni Building behind Southern Academy Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The drive was previously planned on behalf of Carnice Barfield Pettit, 37, a Mount Olive funeral director at Garris Funeral Home who had leukemia. She passed away on April 27th before finding a donor match.
One of her last wishes was that this project could help someone else with a bone marrow disease.
A new, painless procedure involves a saliva mouth swab, and takes about 10 minutes.
For more information, call the staff of Garris Funeral Home at (919) 658-2186 or Jerilyn Lee at (919) 658-2978.
