CPA will face tax evasion charges

MOUNT OLIVE -- A Wayne County certified public accountant and his wife have been charged by the state Department of Revenue with failing to file tax returns.
Jerry U. Britt, 52, and Angela W. Britt, 44, of Mount Olive were charged after an investigation by officials with the Department of Revenue's Greenville Examinations Office.
Warrants allege that Britt willfully did not file state income tax returns for 2001 through 2004.
Mrs. Britt is charged with failing to file returns for 2003 and 2004.
The Britts surrendered to authorities in Wake County and were released under written promise to appear.
Their court date is May 22 in Wake County District Court.
