Man wounded
A 63-year-old Goldsboro man was shot and robbed of $20 Wednesday night at his home in the 300 block of North Carolina Street, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Roychester Lee Brodie was found at about 8:45 p.m. on the ground. He was rushed by ambulance to Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was listed today in stable condition in intensive care .
The suspect wore a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. No other description was available.
Meth labs found
A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with two felony violations involving methamphetamine.
Carlos Eduardo Torres of Old Smith Chapel Road, Mount Olive, was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver methamphetamine and maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling the drug. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $35,000 secured bond.
Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $3,600 and four firearms, including a high-powered rifle, were seized. Officers said the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible.
Meanwhile, the drug squad and the State Bureau of Investigation discovered a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in an abandoned house off N.C. 55 West. The lab was not being operated when it was discovered.
A federal Drug Enforcement Administration laboratory cleanup crew from South Carolina sanitized the house.
Fugitive arrested
A Goldsboro man who was wanted on felony charges in Maryland was arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police at his home on Edgerton Street.
Isaac Caldwell, 49, was wanted on charges of forgery, counterfeiting documents, uttering and theft in Anne Arundel County. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail without bond.
Caldwell was arrested by Goldsboro Housing Authority police, Investigator Dale Foster and Anne Arundel sheriff's officers.
Break-in charge
A 23-year-old man was charged Wednesday by Goldsboro police in connction with a two-year-old residenial break-in.
Tristan Lee Cobb of East Holly Street was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and filing a false police report. He was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond. Cobb was accused of the break-in in October of 2003, Investigator G.N. Lynch said. Investigator Dave Cloutier assisted in the case.
7 hurt in wrecks
Seven people were injured and damages were estimated at $36,820 in five recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Both drivers were injured and damages were estimated at $8,800 in a collision at 4:20 p.m. Tuesday at Miller's Chapel and Thoroughfare roads. James Vernon Radford, 57, of Davis Mill Road, Fremont, and Joshua Carter III, 51, of Wintergreen Place were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. No charges were filed.
*A driver was injured and her car was demolished in a wreck at 5:16 a.m. Tuesday on U.S. 117 near N.C. 55. Rachel Lucille Wade, 50, of South Breazeale Avenue, Mount Olive, was released after emergency-room treatment. No charges were filed. The car was valued at $8,000.
*Two passengers were injured and damages were estimated at $6,500 in a two-vehicle crash at 4:55 p.m. Monday at U.S. 117 and Old Mount Olive Road, the Highway Patrol said. Tabitha Gean West, 17, of West Wards Bridge Road, Warsaw, and Christopher Ray Brock, 32, of Precythe Street, Faison, were released after emergency-room treatment. David Franklin Faison, 28, of South Faison Avenue, Faison, was charged with a stoplight violation.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimate at $12,000 in a two-vehicle collision at 2:03 p.m. Monday at Brewington Road and an entrance to Georgia-Pacific. Judy Russell Hill, 40, of Georgia Farms Road, Dudley, was released after emergency-room treatment. James Edward Mason, 33, of Bald Knob, Ark., was charged with a yield violation.
*A bicyclist was injured in a collision with a pickup truck at 11:53 a.m. Friday on U.S. 117 near Pikeville. George Dalton Denning Jr., 16, of Collingwood Drive, Pikeville, was released after emergency-room treatment.
Car break-ins
Two cars were broken into Wednesday in a church parking lot in the 100 block of Ed Edmundson Road near Mount Olive, and about $515 worth of property was stolen, Wayne County sheriff's deputies said.
Yolanda Perez of Barwick Road, Mount Olive, said jewelry, a briefcase and a purse were taken. The property was valued at $425. Damage was set at $200. Bertha Alvarez Alcala of School House Branch Lane, Mount Olive, reported the theft of a purse with $50 and personal papers The property was valued at $40, in addition to the cash.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A moped valued at $2,400 was stolen from a home in the 900 block of Slaughter Street.
*A 12-foot cargo trailer was stolen from Leonard Building and Truck Accessories at 4273 U.S. 70 East. The trailer was valued at $2,600.
*A radio and compact disc player was stolen from a car parked in the 700 block of East Park Avenue .Stuart Bridges McMillan, estimated the radio's value at $250 and damage at 150.
