Wayne County officials are expecting the creation of about 135 new jobs when a company officially announces it has bought the shell building at the county's industrial park, ParkEast.
Joanna Thompson, president of the county Economic Development Commission, said today that a press conference will be held Friday at 9 a.m. to announce the details of the purchase of the building by AAR Manufacturing Inc., which manufactures specialized cargo systems.
Ms. Thompson said this morning that the company is a division of AAR Corp. The shell building was built by the county to attract a new industry to the industrial park.
The shell building at ParkEast is 106,300 square feet and will allow AAR Manufacturing to build specialized cargo systems for use in the A400M, a new type of military transport aircraft developed and manufactured by Airbus.
Ms. Thompson said she could not provide any further details today, but that a ground-breaking ceremony will accompany Friday's press conference.
The shell building is located at 500 Gateway Park in ParkEast, which is located off the U.S. 70 bypass.
