Wayne County volunteers will take to the streets April 22 for the 2006 Litter Sweep campaign.
The volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at the Wayne County Courthouse on the Ormond Street Entrance side and will clean along the roads in Wayne County.
All groups and individuals, corporations and businesses are invited to participate, as well as county and city officials, civic groups, churches and youth groups.
Transportation from the courthouse will be provided to designated areas for clean up.
Organizers are also providing safety vests, bags, pick-up sticks and latex gloves.
After a few hours of clean-up, participants are invited back to the courthouse for a box lunch and a brief closing ceremony at 11:15 a.m.
Organizers say the cleanup is a perfect opportunity for all of the Adopt-A-Highway groups to coordinate activities.
To register your group call Keep Wayne County Beautiful at 731-1600 or contact the organization online at www.waynegov.com/littersweep. This registration will help organizers plan for the lunch and special give-aways.
The event is a joint effort by Wayne County, the city of Goldsboro, the N.C. Depart-ment of Transportation and Keep Wayne County Beauti-ful.
