Circus coming to town

Elephants Tina and Jewel will be among the performers Monday and Tuesday when the Cole Bros. Circus returns to Goldsboro.
Cole Bros. Circus of the Stars features an all new performance that includes camels, miniature horses, a mind-reading pony and Abuhadba's Fantasy Poodle Review. Also performing will be Craig Rogers K-9 Air Sports Team, which has been seen on Animal Planet.
Ringmaster Chris Connors will direct the show, which also features human artists who have performed in circuses around the world.
Marvel's Spider-Man will exhibit skills on the Astrocycle and will take on his nemesis, the Green Goblin, in a fast-paced adventure on the Giant Wheel.
South America's Bermudez Clown Troupe will perform, as will California aerialists Blaze Birge and David Jones. Brazil's silliest strong man, "Pumped Up" Andrey Medeiros will do feats of balance, and singing host Ted McRae will offer audience members the opportunity to help him display some surprising animal friends.
The show will end with a bang as Ukraine's Zarina bursts from the World's Largest Cannon.
Not all of the entertainment will take place at show time.
On Monday morning, the public can watch the tent raising, which will begin at 7 a.m. The best photo opportunities are between 8 and 10 a.m.
There is lots of free parking, and school buses and tour groups are welcome.

Performances of the circus are scheduled for 4:30 and 7:30 each day at the Wayne County Fairgrounds, located on U.S. 117 at the intersection of U.S. 13.
Advance tickets can be purchased at Anderson's Interiors, The Ambiance in Berkeley Mall and by phone at 1-888-332-5200. They can also be purchased on the Web at www.tickets.com.
On performance days, tickets will be available only at the circus box office.
Prices range from $10 to $17.
The circus is being presented by the Goldsboro News-Argus to benefit Mount Olive College and Wayne Community College.
