Area residents with old family photographs they want to preserve will want to atttend a Saturday meeting of the Old Dobbs Society at the Wayne County Public Library on Ash Street.
The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. The library will be closed on Saturday but people who want to attend the society meeting can enter the Weil Auditorium through the side door.
The speaker for the event will be Dick Lankford of the North Carolina Department of Archives and History. He specializes in old photographs and will be discussing how to "date" old photos or tintypes.
People are encouraged to bring old photographs or tintypes for examination, especially if they have had difficulty determining when the photos were taken.
