4 hurt in wrecks
Four people were injured and damages were estimated at $31,950 in five recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, officers reported.
*A northbound driver was injured and damages were estimated at $8,000 in a two-car crash at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at U.S. 70 West and an exit ramp from the new U.S. 117, police said. Diane Marie Vandecar, 58, of Killdeer Drive was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Floyd Vance Andrews III, 38, of Summit Street, LaGrange, was charged with a stoplight violation.
*Damages were estimated at $5,600 in a three-vehicle collision at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday at South John and East Elm streets, Goldsboro police said. Billy Melvin Harvey, 60, of West South Street, Fremont, was charged with a stoplight violation.
*An uninsured driver was injured and damages were set at $9,400 in a two-vehicle collision at 11:01 a.m. Monday on Camp Jubilee Road near Adams Road, the Highway Patrol said. Juan Gorritz-Davila, 27, of N.C. 55, Seven Springs, was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with driving left of center.
*A passenger from Wilson was injured in a one-car wreck at 7:21 a.m. Monday on U.S. 117 near the Wilson County line, the Highway Patrol said. Antra Westry-Gray, 42, was released after emergency-room treatment. Her driver, Earl Gray Kennedy, 36, of Wilson, was charged with exceeding a safe speed. The car, valued at $7,000, was demolished. Damage was set at $750 to the guardrail.
*A motorcyclist from Mount Olive was injured in a wreck at 7:55 a.m. Saturday on Rosewood Road near Moss Hill Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Michael Joseph Theriac, 20, of Northeast Center Street was released after emergency-room treatment. He was charged with exceeding a safe speed. Damage was fixed at $1,200.
Jewelry theft
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A man Tuesday grabbed jewelry from a salesperson at the J.C. Penneys store in Berkeley Mall and fled with a watch and a gold chain. The thief was described as white, about 30, 6-feet-2 and 185 pounds with short black hair and a tattoo on his neck. The jewelry was valued at $504.
*A remote control and a canvas bag were stolen Tuesday after a window was broken at a home in the 1200 block of East Mulberry Street. Kenny James Stern said the remote was worth $75, and the other resident, Matthew Mark Panza, put a $5 value on the bag.
*A white Pomeranian dog was stolen Tuesday and a convertible car top was slashed in the 200 block of Princess Street, police said. The resident, A.D. Taylor, said the dog was worth $300. Damage to the car, owned by another resident, Edward Earl McIntyre, was put at $3,500.
*A compact disc player was stolen from a car on the 900 block of Evergreen Avenue. Debra Ann Streeter, estimated the player's worth and damage at $100 each.
*A stereo face plate and an organizer were stolen after a car window and the stereo were damaged in the 1100 block of East Pine Street. Eric McCall estimated damages at $1,000. The value of stolen property was not listed.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*Two chain saws and two wrench sets were stolen between March 6 and Tuesday from a shop at the N.C. Forestry Service at 434 Claridge Nursery Road, deputies said. The stolen property was valued at $1,900.
*A two-carat diamond ring, a gold bracelet, a gold necklace and gold earrings with diamonds were stolen between Sunday and Tuesday from an apartment in the 100 block of Foxcroft Drive, deputies said. The resident, N.D. Boney, put a $2,700 value on the jewelry.
Missing
A 14-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing Tuesday by relatives to Goldsboro police. Deanne Nicole Randolph of Lot 200, 3201 Central Heights Road, was described as black, 5-feet-3 and 125 pounds with black hair, brown eyes and a medium complexion. When last seen at 7:45 a.m. Monday, she was wearing a striped sweatshirt, blue jeans and white sneakers. Anyone with information on her whereabouts was asked to call police at 705-6572.
