Mobile home fire
A mobile home at Lot 11, 3118 Central Heights Road, was destroyed Sunday night in a fire that had started in the living room, the Goldsboro Fire Department reported.
Assistant Fire Chief Eric Lancaster referred a further investigation of the fire to police because of conflicting information from witnesses.
The mobile home, occupied by Darlene Robinson and owned by Alex Economy of Goldsboro, was valued at $4,000. The contents, valued at $3,000, also were destroyed.
Thirteen firefighters answered the 10:04 p.m. alarm with three engines, a ladder and a command car. The first unit arrived within three minutes.
Lancaster said heavy fire was encountered. Fire crews needed 21 minutes to knock down the blaze and then other crews entered the single-wide home and finished the attack. Firefighters remained until 12:48 a.m. to investigate the cause and finish salvage work.
An adjacent mobile home at Lot 10 sustained about $150 in minor damages. The home, valued $4,000, was occupied by Angela Loyd.
Man robbed
A 19-year-old Goldsboro man was robbed at gunpoint Saturday of a cell phone and an Eastern Wayne High School class ring, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Sean Michael Villaneuva told officers that two men, one white and the other black, approached him at 12:50 a.m. at the Laurel Point Apartments, displayed weapons, grabbed the property and fled across New Hope Road.
The black suspect was described as 5-feet-7 and 160 pounds with a slim build and black hair, and he wore a black shirt and black pants. The white suspect was described as 6-feet and 160 pounds, and he wore a red pullover shirt with a hood.
2 hurt in wrecks
Two people were injured in three recent traffic collisions in Goldsboro, police reported. Damages totaled only $50 in two of the wrecks.
*A motorcyclist was injured in a wreck at 4:20 p.m. Sunday on North Berkeley Boulevard near a ramp to Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, Goldsboro police said. Grace Olivia Creech, 42, of Parkstown Road, LaGrange, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said. The report said the bike skidded on dirt and overturned. No charges were filed. Damage was put at $50.
*A driver was injured in a two-vehicle, rear-end collision, in which damages were estimated at $50, at 8:53 p.m. Saturday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Royall Avenue, police said. Perry Leon Peterkin, 46, of Morrisville was released after emergency-room treatment. A second southbound driver, Georgia M. Dees, 42, of East Mulberry Street, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Peterkin was charged with driving while his license revoked.
*Damages were estimated at $5,600 in a three-vehicle, rear-end crash at 2 p.m. Friday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Royall Avenue, police said. The operator of a Coastal Beverage Co, tractor-trailer truck, Kenneth Lathan Keel, 34, of Friendswood Drive, was charged with failure to reduce speed. The other motorists were identified as Terri Lee Jordan, 38, of Brookside Way, Pikeville, and Crystal Latonya Graham, 29, of Alpha Court.
Investigations
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*A video camera, a camera case and a scanner were stolen between Friday and Saturday after two vehicle windows were smashed in the 1600 block of East Walnut Street, police said. The owner and resident, Jay Best, estimated the value of the stolen property at $800 and damages at $900.
*A digital camera, a video camera, 20 DVDs and a flashlight were stolen between Friday and Saturday after an apartment window was broken in the 500 block of South Harding Drive, police said. The resident, Donald Kevin McFatridge, estimated the stolen property's value at $1,470 and damage at $50.
*Sixty-six compact discs, a purse, beer and checkbooks were stolen between Friday and Sunday after a window screen was removed from a home in the 600 block of East New Hope Road, police said. The occupant, Michele Elizabeth Dayton, put a $1,630 value on the property.
*A cell phone and seven compact discs were stolen and a car stereo system was damaged Sunday in the 1100 block of South Slocumb Street, police said. The owner, James C. Rutland of Goldsboro, put a $175 value on his property and set damage at $250.
*A satellite radio and two checks were stolen between Thursday and Friday after a convertible top was slashed on a car in the 800 block of East Mulberry Street, police said. The owner, Michael Anthony Proctor, said the radio was worth $100 and estimated damage at $1,000.
*A cell phone and a charger were stolen between Thursday and Friday after two vehicle windows were shattered in the 700 block of East Mulberry Street, police said. The owner, Georgia M. Dees, estimated the value of the property at $150 and damages at $500.
*A red, four-door 1999 Ford Taurus was stolen between Thursday and Friday from the Best Value Inn parking lot, police said. The car, owned by Doris Davis of Goldsboro and driven by Terrance Bunch of Goldsboro, was valued at $5,000.
Thefts
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*About $604 worth of tools were stolen between Friday and Saturday after a locked tool box on a truck bed was broken into, deputies said. The owner, Thomas Wayne Rendleman of Wingspread Drive, set damage at $350.
*A three-quarter carat diamond ring and a diamond bracelet were stolen between Thursday and dawn today from a home in the 100 block of North Running Deer Circle, deputies said. The resident, Betty Sue Blizzard, put a $1,150 value on the jewelry.
*A Kawasaki dirt bike was stolen between Friday and Saturday from behind a home in the 300 block of Lee's Country Club Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Michael Joseph Hamm, said the bright green bike was worth $1,500.
