Wayne Community College open house to be held Friday

The public will get a chance to tour Wayne Community College on Friday during an open house from 8:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Students from area high schools have been invited to attend sessions in the morning, with the afternoon segment geared toward potential adult students. Visitors will be able to tour the campus, meet faculty and students and learn about college credit, continuing education, and basic skills programs.
Faculty and students will be on hand to answer questions, and some employers will be also be present.
Information will be available about the admissions process, obtaining financial aid or scholarships, and resources to help a student be successful, such as tutoring, the library, and student activities.
The Basic Skills Program will open its facilities in the new Walnut Building from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. to those who are not ready for college-level studies. Visitors can learn about the GED, Adult High School, Adult Basic Education and English as a Second Language programs through displays of materials and student work and presentations by faculty and students.
Minors who have stopped attending high school,, as well as adults who didn't complete high school, are encouraged to learn more about the basic skills program. English as a Second Language students could also benefit from the offerings, school officials said.
Continuing Education, which provides training in a wide range of fields will feature both demonstrations and displays from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The college's Business and Industry Center and Military Business Center will share information about their programs.
